New Client forms:

Clients must be referred to our practice by their primary care veterinarian. We require your primary care veterinarian to complete a referral form, which can be faxed or emailed to us prior to scheduling your appointment.

Referral Policy:

Because you have been referred to us for a dental procedure, upon completion of the procedure we will forward all pertinent information to your regular veterinarian. We will only treat the original problem for which your veterinarian referred you,and only oral surgical procedures.  In the event your pet requires medical help in the future which is not specifically related to this procedure, we recommend that you call your regular veterinarian.  His or her skill and familiarity with your pet makes your veterinarian the best-qualified professional to manage additional problems.

Appointments and Procedures:

Consultations can be scheduled on Monday/Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings.  For clients coming from out of town, the consultation & procedure can be performed on the same day, with admission first thing in the morning (arrive between 7:30 - 7:45am).  Dental procedures are performed Monday through Thursday.  Because your pet will be anesthetized during their procedure, pets must be fasted from food after 8pm the day before their dental procedure and water must be removed first thing in the morning.

Consultation:

Dr. Hansen will discuss your pets dental problem with you during a 20 minute consultation.  He will review your pets medical history, evaluate and examine your pet, and then discuss various options with you.  At this time you will receive a detailed estimate regarding the procedure both you and the doctor have decided on. The cost of a referral consultation is $162

A pre-anesthetic work up is tailored to your individual pet.  All patients require an electrocardiogram (EKG) and blood work prior to anesthesia.  Ideally labwork should be completed 1-2 weeks ahead of your procedure (but we will accept labs up to 4 weeks out).  The EKG will be preformed the morning of your procedure.

Day of Procedure:

Our surgical admit time is between 7:30 and 7:45am.  You will need to sign paperwork to admit your pet, and give us a contact number where you can be reached that day.  If any additional procedures or treatments are indicated based on oral examination and/or dental X-rays, Dr. Hansen or a veterinary technician will contact you to receive your permission for additional services.

Once your pet has fully recovered from anesthesia, a technician will call you to discuss how things went and to schedule a discharge time (usually after 2pm).  At the time of discharge a technician will go over a detailed report from Dr. Hansen and instructions for home care.  Many dental procedures do require a recheck visit which can be setup at this time. This is a no charge appointment.

Payment:

Full payment is due when services are rendered.  We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and Care Credit.
